There are a few wood species that really stand out from the crowd especially when it comes to wood used for hardwood flooring and Kempas is one of them! Originating from Indonesia, it is one of those tall deciduous trees that produce some of the most lovely and unique kinds of hardwood in the world. Its colour is red brown, slightly changing with the passage of time.
Kempas is resistant to fungi and is susceptible to dry wood borers; however, it is durable wood of great hardness and with a good behavior in moisture fluctuation. It can be used for several applications both for the interior (e.g. flooring or industrial flooring) and the exterior (e.g. exterior joinery, heavy carpentry, vehicle or container flooring).
